Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) – Legislative Assistant

The Office of Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, seeks a legislative assistant to handle tax, trade, and other domestic policy issues. Responsibilities include drafting and analyzing legislation, conducting research, writing policy memos, meeting with constituents, and staffing Ways and Means Committee hearings and mark­ups. The ideal candidate would have at least two years of legislative experience, and a strong understanding of tax, trade, health and other policy issues. A law or other graduate degree is preferred but not required. No calls or dropins please. The office is an equal opportunity employer.

Chief of Staff: Brad Howard ( joined Rep. Murphy’s team as Campaign Manager in August 2016 and joined her Congressional office in August 2016 as Chief of Staff. He previously served as Communications Director to the Blue Dog Coalition and to Rep. Mike Ross (D-AR). He has a Bachelor’s from Hendrix College and a Master’s in public communication from American University.

Deputy Chief of Staff/Legislative Director: John Laufer ( joined Rep. Murphy’s team as Deputy Chief of Staff/Leglsiatve Director in January 2017. He previously served as Legislative Director to Rep. Pedro Pierluisi (D-PR) and Foreign Affairs Legislative Assistant to Rep. Luis Guillermo Fortuño (R-PR). He has a Bachelor’s from Amherst College, a Master’s in international security from Georgetown University, and a JD from Columbia University School of Law.
