Government Affairs Manager- Microsoft

Position Summary:

The Microsoft US Government Affairs team is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Director for external affairs and constituency outreach. The position reports to the Senior Director of External Affairs and is responsible for building and maintaining strong external relations with identified audiences to include think tanks, trade groups, political and policy advocacy organizations at the national and state levels and Microsoft’s technology partners. This candidate will be responsible for the creation and management of Microsoft’s constituency relations program and will work directly with civic associations and advocacy organizations with a mission to serve underrepresented and under-served communities. This candidate will also be responsible for the development and execution of strategic engagement plans designed to identify opportunities to work with advocacy organizations where our policy priorities are aligned. This candidate will also work with the Senior Director of External Affairs to manage the Microsoft Voices for Innovation program, comprised mostly of Microsoft technology partners seeking to engage with and learn about policy impacting the technology industry through online platforms.The candidate will create strategic engagement plans to mobilize support from each targeted organization and the partner community. This will include developing priority lists of organizations for outreach, initiating education efforts, identifying specific partnership opportunities, setting budgets and key metrics and monitoring progress. General responsibilities to include development of engagement plans and strategic communications, project and issue campaign management, materials development, and managing the budget.
