The Office of Congressman David Young (R-IA) is seeking a Legislative Assistant to handle a diverse portfolio including health care, education, labor, and financial services. Through this role, the LA will be responsible for relevant Appropriations Subcommittee work and should have a firm grasp on the issues and the appropriations process. Responsibilities include identifying district issues and coming up with innovative solutions; developing and managing legislation; monitoring relevant floor, committee, and regulatory activity; assisting with editing constituent correspondence; regular interaction with constituents and district groups; and advising the Congressman and senior staff. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and project management skills, and at least one year of Hill experience. Iowa ties are strongly preferred.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in international relations and global studies, Arabic languages and literature, and Middle Eastern studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
