Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN) – Staff Assistant


The Office of Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN) seeks a Staff Assistant from Indiana for her Washington, D.C. office. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours and must have a car for driving the Congresswoman to official events. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: answering phones, sorting incoming mail, scheduling and leading constituent tours, supervising interns, greeting visitors, and assisting legislative and press staff with projects. Candidates must be organized with exceptional attention to detail, possess strong people skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced demanding environment, possess the ability to work on several projects simultaneously, and be able to communicate clearly in a team-oriented environment.

Chief of Staff: Megan Savage (megan.savage@mail.house.gov) joined Rep. Brooks’ staff as Legislative Director in January 2013 and was promoted to Chief of Staff in January 2015. She previously served as Legislative Counsel for Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN) and as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. She has a BA in Political Science and Government from American University and a JD from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis.

Deputy Chief of Staff: Catherine Knowles (catherine.knowles@mail.house.gov) joined Rep. Brooks’ Staff as Deputy Chief of Staff in July 2017. She previously worked as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Rep. John Culberson (R-TX), and as Legislative Counsel for Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX). She has a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University and a JD from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law – Bloomington.

Communications Director: Kristen Johnson (kristen.johnson@mail.house.gov) joined Rep. Brooks’ Staff as Communications Director in September 2015. She previously worked as a Consultant at APCO Worldwide Inc., and as a Legislative Assistant for Sen. Dick Lugar (R-IN). She has a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Pennsylvania.

Legislative Director: Helen Dwight (helen.dwight@mail.house.gov) joined Rep. Brooks’ staff as a Senior Legislative Assistant in June 2015 and was promoted to Legislative Director in December 2016. She was previously a Senior Legislative Assistant for Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ) and Rep. Charlie Bass (R-NH). She has a BA in English, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and French from Southern Methodist University.
