Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL) – Digital Director

The Office of Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL) is looking for a talented, creative and motivated Digital Director. Candidates will ideally have at least 2­-3 years of digital experience, preferably on a campaign or on Capitol Hill. Experience designing graphics, editing photos and editing video is required. Applicants must value responsiveness to constituents, possess a strong work ethic, have the ability to work flexible hours befitting a leadership office and embrace the office’s mission of improving the lives of others. This position will report to the Communications Director and assist with communications responsibilities as needed, so strong writing skills are required. Chief of Staff: Jon Pyatt ( joned Rep. Bustos’ staff as Chief of Staff in March 2015. He was previously Director of Federal Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Counsel for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), and Election Protection Field Counsel for the DCCC. He has a BS in Print Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a JD from Pepperdine University School of Law, and a Master’s in International Affairs and International Security Policy from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs.

Deputy Chief of Staff/Communications Director: Jared Smith ( joined Rep. Bustos’ team as Communications Director in September 2015 and was promoted to also be Deputy Chief of Staff in 2017. He was previously Communications Director for Rep. Gary Peters (D-MI) and Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY). He has a bachelor’s degree in communication from Allegheny College.

Legislative Director: Trevor Reuschel ( has been Rep. Bustos’ Legislative Director since February 2017. He was previously Legislative Assistant for Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL). He has a BA in History from Quincy University.

Scheduler: Laura Piccioli ( joined Rep. Bustos’ staff as Scheduler in September 2015. She was previously Administrator, Government Relations at Food Marketing Institute and State Relations and Advocacy Specialist for Illinois Governor Pat Quinn. She has a BS in Agricultural and Consumer Economics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
